StockMate – Food counting on the Psion

Start the Program

Use the arrows ¬ ® to choose the Food program and press <Enter>

You can press Z to bypass the copyright message.

If StockMate is authorised to run in multi-outlet mode, you will be prompted for the outlet number. Type in the appropriate number and press <Enter>

While the products are being read, you can press Y to exit if you do not want to continue.

Product Code

 

Type in the product code and press <Enter>

The product details will be displayed

Type in the number of items and press <Enter>

e.g. 2.5 for bags of flour, or the number of dozens of eggs

Type in the number of units and press <Enter>

If the product is counted in dozens you should enter the number of individuals

You will now be put back to the Product Code prompt

Scanning Products

If you are using a Scanner Psion Workabout, press <Scan> to scan a product's barcode

The product details will be displayed and you can continue as per above, as though you had typed in the product code

If the barcode is not recognised, you can assign the barcode to a product code. You will be prompted to do this and you should answer the questions as appropriate

Searching for Products

Type in a dot (.)

A list of all/live products will be displayed in Code order

Use the arrows ­ ¯ to find the product required and press <Enter>

You can now enter the quantities

For a more effective search, type in the first character of a product code and then a dot. The products displayed will be those whose codes start with the character you typed

 

Type in a slash (/)

A list of all/live products will be displayed in Description order

Use the arrows ­ ¯ to find the product required and press <Enter>

You can now enter the quantities

For a more effective search, type in the first character of a product description and then a slash. The products displayed will be those whose descriptions start with the character you typed

 

Press <Ctrl>-L to toggle the all/live setting. The current setting is shown at the top of the screen. You will be prompted to confirm you want to do this. The search screen will be redisplayed reflecting the new all/live setting.

 

Press X to obtain full information about the product currently selected. This will help if products have long descriptions.

Quick Entry

With the search screen displayed (as per above)

Use the arrows ­ ¯ to find the product required but don't press <Enter>

Type in the number of items

As soon as you type a number, the 'Items' prompt will be displayed at the top of the screen and you can complete the Items and Units

Continue to scroll up and down and enter quantities for different products

QuickScreen Operation

Press <Ctrl>-Q when at the product code prompt

The product details line will not be displayed on the screen enabling very fast entry of data without getting out-of-synch.

Products

Adding Products

You must be on the search screen to add a product.

Press <Ctrl>-A

You will be prompted to enter the product code, a description, a size description, a count and a selling price

The product will then be added to the search list and you can select it to add the quantities

You will not be able to use this option on multi-bar outlets

Outlets

Changing Outlets

(For multi-outlet authorisation)

Press <Ctrl>-O when at the product code prompt

You will be prompted to confirm that you want to change the outlet

You will then be prompted to enter the outlet number.

Type in the number and press <Enter>

Scanning

Zero barcodes

Press <Ctrl>-Z when at the product code prompt

You will be asked to confirm whether the barcodes for the last product will be zeroed

Use the arrows ­ ¯ to select the bar to move to and press <Enter>

Initialise Scanner

Press <Ctrl>-I when at the product code prompt

Very occasionally, the scanner fails to operate. This option will initialise and test the scan function.

Other functions

Audit Trail

Press <Ctrl>-T when at the product code prompt or on the search screen

The audit trail will be displayed. Use the arrows ­ ¯ to view it

Press <On/Esc> to return to your previous screen
